Three Types Of Perfumes

Shopping is not easy. Shopping for perfumes is even worse. There are so many types of perfumes available. And each of these carry a different scent. Some of course also carry a hefty price tag and others, they can be dirt cheap. Furthermore you have got Eau de Parfum, Eau de Cologne and so many other French names that you would have no idea about. So what causes this difference between perfumes?

Well the answer to that is simple. They are different types of perfumes. There are five main types of perfumes at present. This categorization is not according to the scent, it is based on the level of fragrance oil and alcohol used, the longevity of the scent and the price. This categorization is common across the perfume industry in UAE. Below, you can find a description of three of the five types of perfumes, these are relatively high priced when compared to the other types and have higher levels of fragrance.

This is also known as Pure Parfum and as its name suggests, it is the one with the highest content of fragrance. The level of fragrance can vary between 15% to 40%, however most of the Parfums have a fragrance concentration of 20-30%. As the fragrance content is so high, the scent of a Parfum lasts between five to eight hours, which is much longer than all the other types of perfumes. Due to Parfum having such a high level of fragrance, the price is much higher than other types of perfumes. Furthermore it has the least level of alcohol therefore it does not irritate the skin.

Eau De Parfum

This one is more common among perfumes marketed at females. It has the second highest level of fragrance concentration; 15-20% which makes it less expensive when compared to Parfum but much higher priced than the other types. The scent of the Eau De Parfum, generally lasts for about four to five hours due to the fragrance content being rather high. Many establishedperfume manufacturers generally sell Eau De Parfum as they are highly sought after. Furthermore due to the perfume having a lesser content of alcohol when compared to the types of perfumes mentioned below, the product is considered suitable to sensitive skin and is seen as more desirable. Therefore if you have sensitive skin, Eau De Parfum is the one you would be better off choosing.

Eau De Toilette

This one is also highly popular among the public. It has a lesser level of fragrance concentration than the two mentioned above, as the concentration is generally between 5-15%. However as it cheaper than the other two, it remains popular among the public. It has a higher level of alcohol, therefore if you have sensitive skin you might want to think twice before buying a bottle however if you do not have sensitive skin, you can purchase this without worrying. Especially because even though the scent only lasts for two to three hours, you can spray it again without thinking twice as the perfume can be bought again without putting a dent in your wallet.

So above are the three types of perfumes with the most content of fragrance.Next time you see the word Eau De Parfum, Parfum or Eau De Toilette, you would know what the perfume is going to be like.
